Kombiná
The project I’ve been working on recently, takes you on an architectural journey throughout the Caribbean.
But It’s not just about buildings. It’s about past and future. Healing. Growth. Vision. About culture and family. We follow a beautiful mind and the parallels between his architecture and personal life.
Thank you Lyongo, for your trust and for giving me complete artistic freedom. And Emma Heinhuis, for making it possible to shoot a feature length documentary in only 14 days, guerilla style. Keeping cool while flights got cancelled. Coming home with all the pieces of the puzzle it was quite a job to assemble them, yet we didn’t miss a single one to tell this story. Rotterdam and Curaçao premieres sold out pretty quick.
Check the latest news on www.lyongo.com for available premieres in Amsterdam, Bonaire, Statia, Saba and lots of other film festivals.

to visit a couple of inspiring projects on Curaçao, with the same characteristic: hope.
Within the timeframe of a week this mini documentary was shot, uploaded to my studio, edited and sent back in time to make it for the television premiere.
Home is where the heart is
A national television commercial about whisky, directed by Jeroen Leinders, shot by Dolph van Stapele and edited by me. Talking about the right Ingredients!
A Curaçao camera job
For over 10 years producer Michel Drenthe has been talking about this project and finally it’s here! Even though the entire production started after I left Curaçao, I got the chance to come back to film the final scene alongside Hester Jonkhout.
Video Podcasting
Quite an honour to work with the legendary actor Gijs Scholten van Aschat, very interesting to see how he managed to make a corporate podcast profound and fun to watch. Directed by Jeroen Leinders, shot by Yuri Kneppers and me, and edited by me.
Long-distance editing
After the first trip to Curaçao to edit this Carnival Documentary, Covid prevented me from returning to finish it. So Dolph van Stapele sent me the footage and we rented top of the bill software to work together on the same project 8000 km apart from each other. This colorful documentary is the result.
Tropical Motion Graphics
In most cases I use After Effects to make titles and intro’s, but every now and then I animate an entire commercial.
Have look at these fast-paced motion graphics based on Karin Ellermann’s storyboard and let the tropical shopping begin.
Lockdown Documentary
We won’t let Covid stop us from finishing a topical story. Even if that means editing zoom hosted debates.

Talented Scholars
Like me, these creative youngsters aren’t always interested in the boring things taught at school.
But ask them to give their input, have Director Sharelly Emanuelson translate it into a script and teach them how to act… this awesome short movie is the result. Shot and cut by yours truly.
A Calling
Michel Drenthe and Sharelly Emanuelson showed me strength and the will to support one another.
Working with these beautiful minds on this documentary taught me a lot about culture, sensitivity and persistence.
In 1977 an unexpected musical marriage occurred between a local Youth Rock Band and Church Choir. 40 years later, this band (Serenada) has stuck to its vows and still strives to preserve traditional Papiamentu songs under the leadership of Harry. Musical and private spheres are intertwined as the documentary reveals the personal and collective motives for committing to cultural preservation.
